Time A Perspective

$1,500.00

A complex and thoughtful expression of the passing of time and the cyclical nature of decay and growth in a bidirectional pattern throughout existence presented through the combination of elementary components.

As a neurodivergent person that has lost a lot of my limited lifespan locked within my own mind, I have a unique experience when it comes to the passing of time.

Time can drag as if seconds were hours

when pushed outside my very confining limits

while thoughts wander and focus is impossible,

to blinks of the eye

that are in reality hours on end spent barely moving,

 as if suspended in time,

while a train of thought becomes a stream

of consciousness about the secrets of the universe,

the meaningless of all existence,

or how to improve the workings and systems of everything and anything.

With this piece I am expressing the passage of time by combining the Vitruvian elements of the circle and the square from the Renaissance in a post modern abstract expression of the cycling of decay and growth that has marked the passage of time from its beginning to its eventual end.

The squares revive from worn and tattered to solid and pristine in a clockwise pattern, the circles pattern in reverse. Lastly, the implied lines created by the interplay of the shapes are highlighted to enhance the evoking of the hands of a clock as they progress through the hour.

The utilization of basic shapes and the primary process colors to elicit a reaction and convey complex experience beyond their simplicity has been at the core of my artistic vision since well before I was able to take steps to begin to enact my imaginings.

I am keenly aware of time due to grieving over the time Ive lost already, the self-loathing while powerless to do more in the moment, and the battle to move forward and utilize the time I have remaining. I live in the regret of the time that has been wasted and worn and anxiety of not pushing myself to create the works I wish to replace me.
